Webinar: How to prosecute wildlife crime as a transnational organised crime.

Date: Thursday 23 May 2024 - Thursday 23 May 2024

Location:

Over the past 15 years, there has been significant growth in awareness that wildlife crime constitutes a serious organised crime. There has also been a development of laws and policies to accompany that growth. However, despite the urgency and importance of the issue, the response remains insufficient.

Wildlife crime continues to threaten our world’s biodiversity, while weakening the rule of law, national security, and human well-being. Therefore, prosecution of such crimes must deploy a comprehensive array of tools and methodologies.

Building on the first joint webinar that took place in September 2023, the goal of the second webinar is to delve into more detail about the tools, techniques, and best practices in prosecuting transnational organised wildlife crime cases. It will demonstrate some of the characteristics of wildlife crime that make it a serious transnational organised crime and will further elaborate on the available tools and techniques that have been implemented in successful prosecutions.
