All IAP individual and organisational members are invited to join us for a webinar organised by the IAP Global Training Academy.

Registration deadline: Friday, 21 August 2026, 14:00 hrs BST / 14:00 hrs CEST

Speaker: Alex Prentice KC, Senior Crown Counsel / High Court Prosecutor, Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service, Scotland

Facilitator: Irina Beridze, Executive Programme Manager, International Association of Prosecutors

When a victim of domestic abuse takes their own life, can the law hold the abuser to account? This compelling webinar explores one of the most complex and evolving areas of criminal justice: the relationship between domestic abuse, coercive and controlling behaviour, and suicide.

Drawing on legal principles and practical experience, the session will examine the evidential and prosecutorial challenges involved in cases where prolonged abuse may have contributed to a victim taking their own life and consider whether justice can be achieved in these deeply tragic circumstances. This webinar will provide valuable insights for investigators, prosecutors and practitioners working in this challenging field.

This 60-minute webinar will be held in English. Attendees can access live, automated translated captions via the Zoom platform during the webinar. All attendees will receive a certificate of attendance.

The webinar is open to all IAP organisational and individual members. Please note that the session will be recorded.

For more details, please contact Ms. Irina Beridze, Executive Programme Manager of the IAP, at epm@iap-association.org.

We look forward to welcoming you!
