New IAP General Counsel

The International Association of Prosecutors is pleased to announce the appointment of Shenaz Muzaffer as General Counsel of the IAP, effective January 1, 2023. She succeeds Gary Balch, who served as General Counsel from 2019 to 2022.

Shenaz Muzaffer is a Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor with the Crown Prosecution Service of England and Wales.  Prior to joining the IAP, she was head of the CPS International Division and one of the deputy heads of the CPS Serious Economic Organised Crime and International Division. She graduated from the University of Nottingham with an LLB Law (Hons) (1st Class) and is a member of the Bar of England and Wales. 

Shenaz has extensive experience in prosecuting a wide range of crimes, including serious sexual and violent offences, drug offences, homicide, piracy and complex fraud.  She has been deployed overseas on behalf of the CPS as a liaison prosecutor, undertaking postings in Seychelles, the UAE and the USA.  She took up her position as head of the CPS International Division in August 2019, overseeing a network of CPS liaison prosecutors deployed overseas in up to twenty countries and leading for the CPS in relation to international engagement. 

Building on the work done by the Secretariat previously, Shenaz is aiming to continue the drive to enhance the operational effectiveness of the IAP for the benefit of its members.
