VACANCY: IAP General Counsel (CLOSED)

The position of General Counsel of the IAP has been vacant since 1 April 2018. This position has recently been closed for application.


The General Counsel is IAP’s leading legal adviser and is responsible for IAP’s professional programme. Together with the Executive Director, Janne Holst Hübner, the General Counsel reports to and supports the President and Secretary General. The General Counsel and Executive Director are part of the Bureau of the Secretary General, together with several other staff members.

 

The IAP General Counsel's job description, which provides more information about the nature and requirements of the position. The successful candidate is expected to start on 1 January 2019.


The Bureau of the Secretary General is located in The Hague, the Netherlands. However, the General Counsel does not have to be based in The Hague and can work from another location, as long as he or she is available for regular stays in The Hague. His or her formal position can be as an employee of the IAP, but a secondment from a present employer (IAP organisational member) is possible as well. The General Counsel’s salary shall be determined  based on the current  salary of the selected candidate, as well as other aspects such as working hours and holidays. In case of a secondment from a prosecution service, the Secretary General and the employer will discuss whether the employer will seek the reimbursement, in part or in total, of the salary of the seconded General Counsel.

Following the closing date, the IAP Selection Committee will review the applications received and produce a short list of selected candidates. The short listed applicants will be invited for an interview either at the Secretariat in The Hague or through a virtual platform in October or November.
