The 5th Specialization Course for Prosecutors cancelled

6/7/2022

Very unfortunately, the Fifth Specialization Course for Prosecutors on International Criminal Justice, Transnational Crime and International Cooperation in Criminal Matters (SCP 2022) to be conducted in Siracusa, Italy, from 4 to 13 July 2022, has been cancelled.

Also this year, there was a huge interest, however, the number of participants fully financially supported by their prosecuting agencies was too low. Unfortunately, IAP and SII were not able to find enough alternative funding for the many participants that could not be fully financially supported by their prosecuting agencies.

Since its inception in 2016, the course has been co-organised by the Siracusa International Institute for Criminal Justice and Human Rights (SII) and the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP). SCP prepares domestic prosecutors to work on cases involving core international and transnational crimes and also offers specialised training in international legal cooperation. The course places a strong focus on practicality through sessions and exercises led by a world-class faculty of international practitioners from around the world. In its past four editions, the course was attended by 179 prosecutors from more than fifty countries.

No doubt, next year, IAP and the Siracusa International Institute will do its utmost to organise the 2023 edition.
