IAP-UNESCO Massive Open Online Training Course on Investigating and Prosecuting Crimes against Journalists, Promoting Freedom of Expression

The IAP and UNESCO is launching a Massive Open Online Training Course (MOOC) on Investigating and Prosecuting Crimes against Journalists, and Promoting Freedom of Expression, on February 27, 2023, at 1:00 PM CET. 

This free, two-week online training course will be published on the training platform from February 27 to March 9, 2023, according to the specific schedule available on the course web page and will be available in English. 

The training platform will remain accessible to the participants till March 24, 2023, to complete the course and receive certificates. 

The course will cover the following topics: 

• Module 1 - Freedom of Expression 

• Module 2 - Role of the Prosecutor in Effective Prosecution of Crimes against Journalists 

• Module 3 - Criminal Defamation 

• Module 4 - Journalistic Method and sources 

• Module 5 - Evidential Issues, Elements and Practice of International Cooperation

Each module will include 30-35-minute video material, in addition to the time needed to read through the supplementary documents. However, as the course is asynchronous, participants are invited to complete it at their own pace, and it is therefore quite compatible with full-time employment. 

Each Module will end with a quiz including five questions. Participants will need to get at least four before moving on to the next module.  

The Introductory Module of the upcoming MOOC is already accessible through the course web page to the participants enrolled in the course - please log into the training platform to watch the video speeches/tutorials delivered by:
