About the venue

Oporto is a city in the north of Portugal dating back more than 2,000 years ago. It is Portugal’s second-largest city. Its Historic Centre was classified as Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.

One of the city’s attractions is the great number of museums and of historic buildings, together with the Port wine and the rich gastronomy. The wine cellars in Oporto where this wine, – well-known all over the world – is stored, as well as the boats traditionally used to transport the wine barrels on the Douro River, are one of the region’s most significant symbols.

Oporto is an important business centre as well as the capital of the Portuguese industry and as such, it is served by an airport and has an extensive transport network.

On several occasions in recent years, the city has won the Best European Destination Award.

The daytime temperature in Oporto in May is around 20ºC.

The conference is going to take place at a hotel located in one of the main avenues of the city, near the beach and many cultural centres.
