Transportation

In terms of transport, Tirana is well connected. Arrival by plane is recommended. Tirana International Airport Nënë Tereza is easily accessible from the city and is located in the village of Rinas 6 nautical miles (11 kilometres; 6.9 miles) northwest of Tirana.

Transfer by taxi service is recommended, it is not expensive in Tirana. We recommend the transport services offered by the Hotel. Price of transport from Tirana Airport to Hotel The Plaza Tirana or Hotel Tirana International is approx. 15-20 €.

Currency

The official currency in Albania is LEK (ALL). ALL - EUR ratio is 1.36. There are numerous and easily accessible currency exchange offices.

Use of credit cards is very common (VISA, Master Card, and Diner's Club).

Climate

In Tirana, the climate is warm and temperate. The winters are rainier than the summers in Tirana. The climate here is classified as Csa by the Köppen-Geiger system. The average annual temperature is 14.8 °C in Tirana. Precipitation here averages 1207 mm. At the time of the Conference neither low temperatures nor snow are expected. Detailed weather forecasts will be made available to all participants a few days (and weeks) prior to the Conference.

The time zone in Georgia is Central-European time (GMT+1)

Electricity and water

Electrical current in Albania is 220 - 240 V, 50 - 60 Hz. Tap water is not safe for drinking

Communications

Dialling code for the Republic of Albania is +355. Dialing code for Tirana is 042, therefore +355 42 ....., then dial the telephone number.

Safety

Albania is known as a safe country, Tirana is no exception. Therefore, the participants will be escorted by the Guard of Republic of Albania. All participants will receive a “badge”, which they will need to be table to enter the Conference premises.
