Palace "Serbia" was built in a dedicated facility designed as a representative of the center of the highest institutions of the former socialist Yugoslavia, and the most famous buildings as the federal government, that is - the Federal Executive Council of Yugoslavia or, more often Federation Palace. Construction began in June 1947, as one of the first object that has started to grow in New Belgrade.

Palace "Serbia", former SIV, is the most important work in the Yugoslav modern architecture because it is designed in the shape of the letter H in an area that covers 5,500 square meters. Importantly, the Palace of Serbia not only because of its architectural value has become a cultural monument, but above all because of the achievements of the best art creators Yugoslavia in 70’ last century.

It represents the fundamental work of socialist modernism and it is an important artifact of history of Yugoslav architecture. It is symbolized by the then state monumentality and very convincing architectural document of a time.
