Amendment to IAP Constitution art. 8.4

7/15/2016

Proposal to amend IAP Constitution art. 8.4 to be approved by the General Meeting, September 2016 in Dublin.

With reference to article 16 of the Constitution of our Association (Amendment of the Constitution) please take following note into consideration:

Following a discussion at the Executive Committee meeting (Helsinki, March 2016), about extending the term of the Immediate Past President as a supernumerary member of the Executive Committee, the Committee has voted to recommend to the membership an amendment of article 8.4 of the IAP Constitution to allow Immediate Past Presidents to stay on for the length of the term of his/her successor.

The IAP Constitution article 8.4 currently reads:

“8.4 The President shall, immediately on the expiration of his/her term of office, become a supernumerary member of the Executive Committee for a term ending at the termination of the third Annual General Meeting held after such expiration.”

Proposal: To replace existing provision with the following version:

“8.4 The President shall, immediately on the expiration of his/her term of office, become a supernumerary member of the Executive Committee for a term ending at the termination of the General Meeting during which the next President ends his/her term or terms”.

The amendment shall have immediate effect.
